Jason Tatum Basketball Camp is officially underway, so far, we’ve blocked shots, Duece appearance requests and some very thoughtful answers while the media is available..
Before we take a look at Tatum’s discussions with the press, let’s start with the fun stuff like the St. Louis native doing his best to make an impression on Robert Williams by sending a shot of a young fan flying into the crowd.
Well, Adel Adel, you took a shot at a talent in the NBA, and she got banned – would you expect that to happen? And most importantly, are you really interested? Because you have to take a shot against Jason Tatum, and that’s worth the entry fee alone!
However, it wasn’t all in Tatum’s favour, as some kids managed to score in it – and I’m betting that’s what prompted him to block the above shot so hard. Gotta save face where you can, right?
And while we’re on the topic of kids, check out this young fan who had the chance to ask Tatum anything he wanted… and he chose to ask to meet the Duece! I mean, Tatum has constantly said that his mini is the biggest star, but this might be the first time we’ve actually seen it on video.
“I always like to do these camps, just to see the excitement on their faces when I come in. It’s so pure, and it’s all just about having fun, and I think that’s the best part,” Tatum said.
Well, that’s enough for the fun stuff! Now we can get into the actual basketball side of things, and it all starts with the All-Star winger talking about how he’s kept in touch with his teammates all summer.
“We’ve all been in touch, just checking in on each other, and seeing how they’re doing. Everyone’s traveling with their families and stuff right now, but maybe next month the guys will start coming back to the gym. Some of us might be in LA together and we’ll work out. on things like that,” And Tatum told reporters when asked about his contact with the team throughout the summer.
Tatum was also asked about the team’s chemistry – something the Celtics have struggled to create over the past few seasons with mixed results. And with all the current trade rumors swirling around it, it will be interesting to see how that chemistry holds up next season. But for now, the 24-year-old winger remains confident in the team mentality of his team, which is encouraging as we continue to approach the training camp.
Chemistry is half the battle. I feel like you can have a great team with great talent, and they don’t have to be together. We saw you guys found out about it in January and never looked back… It’s a little different, knowing that we got to a certain point and we were very close. And we’re excited to come back to that, to get back on the set, because we have unfinished business.”
Tatum also spoke about the annoying shoulder injury he sustained at Miami Heat It will offer an encouraging update that will have Celtics fans everywhere.
“It’s been a longer season than ever, but my shoulders are feeling good, I’ve gotten enough rest, so my body feels really good,” Tatum said. “You know what works for you, what you might need to change, whether that Something in a strength program or your diet, so I think once you go through things and get that experience, you’ll learn from it.”
Last week may have been full of trade rumors and concerns about Jaylen Brown’s future with the franchise, but Tatum camp and what he said to the medi, is a good reminder that this Celtics are the real deal – they’re tight-knit, looking to improve from last season, they’ve improved their depth, and most importantly From that they love their time in the league.
When things are fun, success is often easier, and judging by all the videos coming out of camp, there was no sad face to be seen across the board – that’s what basketball, in its pure form, is all about – sometimes it’s good to remember that .
