Private Chatham University is located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It was initially established as a women’s college, but in 2015, it welcomed males to its undergraduate programs.

In the Schools of Arts, Science & Business, School of Health Sciences, and Falk School of Sustainability & Environment, the university awards certificates, and degrees, including bachelor’s, master’s, first-professional, and doctorate degrees.
Initially located in the Berry home on Woodland Road off Fifth Avenue in the Shadyside district, Chatham was established as the Pennsylvania Female College on December 11, 1869, by Reverend William Trimble Beatty (the father of noted operatic contralto, Louise Homer).
The current Shadyside Campus is made up of the structures and land of several historic private estates, including those of James Rea, Edward Stanton Fickes, Andrew Mellon, and George M. Laughlin Jr.
In 1890, it was renamed the Pennsylvania College for Women, and in 1955, it became Chatham College.
