It’s been a minute since I won American Idol. Have you yet had a chance to catch your breath and realize that, “Hey, I might not have to do construction again, this might be my job?”
After winning the show, I definitely came home thinking, “Oh my God! What am I going to do? I don’t know What do I do Any more.” I wasn’t working because I didn’t really have to, but I was at home, and I was just, “Whatever.” I was taking it all in in an instant.
Then I started realizing that I could play music for the rest of my life and that’s what I’m going to do. It’s very exciting to me. It took me a long time to say, “Man, I can really do that.” I guess after the show ended, I really knew I could play music for the rest of my life, and I wouldn’t have to go back to work or do this, and I could just play music from now on. This is very cool for me.
They say if you love your job it’s not work.
Exactly, yes. There is no work to play music.
When you finish Idol, Release them one day tonight. How did he do that for you?
Oh man, that song was so good. one day tonightAlmost a million views a week. I’m happy with the way that song did, and people still love it. I get sent stuff, and people put me in it all the time with people marrying her and stuff like that. I think this is the coolest thing ever.
But, man, what’s also cool is that I have to go back to Nashville and meet the writers on that song and I worked with one of them the other day on a co-writing we’re working on and that was great. He’s proud of me and it’s like a whole moment. It was awesome. That song was really good, though. I’m happy with the way things went.
You’re in the studio with Jimmy Robbins now. What can we expect from your sessions when the new album is released?
I don’t know, man. I will just write; I will do all these things. It’s probably a mixture of different types in some way.
When you first left Idol, You said you didn’t want to do pop, you wanted to do real country. So, will this be a real country?
Yes, sure, sure. However, I won’t just say that. I feel like it’s a combination of that first thing. It’s kind of a mix for everyone in a way.
You mentioned songwriting. How is it for you? Because you did not enter Idol As a songwriter like HunterGirl, for example.
I literally enjoy writing songs more than anything else. To be honest, I love composing songs. The farthest I’ve gone writing songs [before] He was sitting in my bathroom playing my guitar. That’s all I did. I didn’t get a co-writing experience until after that Idol. Doing so is very cool to me. Basically, you go in and you’re in a room with a couple of guys and you get an idea and you base it on that idea and you write about that idea. I think this is very cool. It is an essential treatment. It’s getting things out of your head.

You are young. Do you have things to pull off?
We have some ideas. I definitely have a few things I want to write about. We already have a lot of stuff we’ve written about, so I’m looking forward to coming up with a lot more.
What is the biggest change in your life so far?
Maybe just go home. Being at home is not normal anymore. I really can’t go to Walmart anymore or do all of these things. I have to get other people to do it for me. Other than that, I go home and see my son and do round trips and all that stuff. But, yes, my hometown might change. But, hopefully each type will eventually decline.
Now that you’ve tasted what your life could be like, what’s a dream about? What do you hope your career will look like?
I just look forward to everything coming my way. I’m really excited about everything I’m going to do now and what’s to come. I’m looking forward to future tours, or new writings, all those things. I’m still trying to comprehend all I have to do now, how this is my life, and that’s what I have to do. I think it’s really amazing, if you ask me. I look forward to everything coming my way.
I have to ask you how Arthur works. I hope you did something special for him or you had something special planned because he was the one who encouraged you to take the test. I really believed in you.
Yes I know. Well, as soon as the show was over, I came home and Arthur and I sat on the front porch, we just talked and it was one of those things where we just got back to the floor for a second like, “That’s crazy.” We took it all together and just talked. But, yeah, we definitely did a few things.
Is he coming to visit you in Nashville?
He hasn’t yet, but he will eventually. Something like this will happen.
When I started the show, one of the things I made clear was that Arthur recorded you because you didn’t have it Confidence in yourself. Will you get there?
Yes, of course. I guess that’s what’s happening now, man. American IdolIt’s great, but now I don’t feel doomed anymore. Every time I perform, you don’t feel judged every week because you have to perform. I can now write songs and have fun and play those shows that I’ve wanted to play for the longest time. It was all about the music to me, so now everything is in place the way I’ve wanted it for so long.
Where will you lead? Where can your fans see you?
Well, I have a lot. My calendar is full. I have a show in Lucasville, Ohio, in the eleventh house. me and HunterGirl They do something on the twelfth day. Yes, it does move and that’s it.
